Do your students understand the potential impacts of various land uses on water quality?

The following elements of a community and related pollutants are highlighted:

Farms: pesticides, fertilizers, manure
Construction Sites: soil erosion, trash (litter), noise, oils & grease, engine exhaust
Factories: smoke, cars (oil & grease), hazardous waste (chemicals), noise
Recreation (Golf Courses): pesticides, fertilizer

Finally, the students will learn the importance of water conservation and be reminded of tips to implement at home.  A water use report card is provided at the end of the program, which provides the students with a great follow-up activity.
